With over 35 years of experience in the hair industry, including 18 years specializing in shears sharpening, I'm passionate about helping others develop their skills in this field. I conduct training programs in both Portland, Oregon, and Irvine, California, and I'm even available for on-site training with flexible travel options (though there may be additional costs).
My background includes managing a shears factory 25 years ago, and I currently hold roles such as Vice President of Above Shears, President of Shears Logic, and co-owner of Above Shears Factory. My goal is to make the learning experience engaging and enriching for aspiring shears sharpening professionals like yourself.
Whether you're starting from scratch or have some experience, I've tailored training programs to suit various skill levels. If you're into beauty shears, I recommend starting with beauty shears training before exploring grooming shears. However, if grooming shears are your primary interest, I can provide specific training for that too. It's important to note that consecutive training for both beauty and grooming shears should not exceed three days. If you're interested in both programs, I recommend planning two separate trips or taking a week off between sessions for optimal learning.
The beginner program for beauty shears spans three days, while the experienced program is condensed into two days. Similarly, for pet grooming shears, the beginner program extends over three days, with the experienced program covering two days. The training fee is $1200 per day, but if you decide to make equipment purchases from me, you're eligible for a 30% training discount. I provide all necessary materials and equipment during the training.
Upon mastering shears sharpening, there's an exciting opportunity to become a dealer for the high-quality shears I offer, potentially boosting your income in the sharpening profession. During the training sessions, I prioritize hands-on experience, believing it's the most effective way to develop proficiency. Sessions are structured for 6.5 hours per day to provide a comprehensive and intensive learning experience, ensuring you gain the knowledge and practice essential for success in the shears sharpening industry.
